SUMMARY:Continuum Sessions | An Ensemble Improvisation Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Full information and required registration here! \nContinuum Sessions is an intensive study of spontaneous\, ensemble dancemaking. It’s a spacetime to reveal\, reify\, disrupt\, and/or transcend \n\n\nintra- and interpersonal patterns of relating (self-self\, self-other\, self-group)\nboth the “what” and the “how” of our movement options\nthe aspects of ourselves that have been choreographed by culture\, society\, and more specifically\, dance training.\n\n\nContinuum Sessions will consist of / be inspired by \n\n\ngroup improvisations built from solo and contact dances\naspects of a process that includes techniques for making set material spontaneous and for composing improvisation called Skeleton\, Fleshed Out\,\nsomatic and contemplative exercises to sharpen and hone our attentional\, perceptual\, and compositional capacities influenced by:\n\nsomatics (Laban Movement Analysis and embodied anatomy)\nLIVE\nDeborah Hay’s questions\nDifferentiating between “audiencing”\, witnessing\, and beholding\n\n\nreflections using video recordings and group discussions to integrate first-\, second-\, and third-person perspectives.\n\n\nWhen \nFriday\, August 7 – Sunday\, August 9\, 2026 \nIn order to build awareness and trust as an ensemble\, we’ll need consistency\, so commitment to attend the entire workshop (with the exception of 2pm-5pm on Saturday) is important. Attending only the first day or the first two days could work\, but being there for the beginning is required. \nFriday\, August 7th: \n2:30 pm-6 pm\nSaturday\, August 8th: \n9 am-12 pm\n2 pm-4 pm (One-on-one or duet fishbowls.* Totally optional.)\n5 pm-8 pm\nSunday\, August 9th:\n10 am-1 pm\n2:30 pm-5:30 pm \n*A fishbowl is a private lesson that others can observe.
