Curated by Artistic Director Sophie Williams\, Season Three brings together world-class artists from across the country in a dynamic program choreographed entirely by women. \nThe performance features two world premieres: Jacquelyn Long’s new ballet\, Moving Forces\, with an original score by award-winning composer Katie Jenkins\, performed live by virtuosic pianist Joshua Mhoon and violinist Julia Choi\, and a new creation by acclaimed choreographer Keerati Jinakunwiphat\, a 2023 Princess Grace Award winner and the first Asian American woman commissioned to create for New York City Ballet. \nThe heart of Nocturnes lies in three ballets that illuminate love in its many forms. This exclusive event brings together artists\, supporters\, and community members and is designed to honor and uplift senior artists\, providing a platform for them to continue sharing their work while fostering connection across generations. \nDoors open at 6:30pm and guests are encouraged to wear their best black and gold outfits and will enjoy silent auctions\, raffle prizes\, and light bites throughout the evening. The evenings live entertainment will begin at 7:30pm and the raffle and auction winners will be announced after. \nThe event serves as a vital fundraiser supporting Mounarath Powell Dance’s professional adult company and broader mission. With over 30 years of experience in arts education and performance\, the organization offers programs for youth and adults\, including inclusive dance opportunities\, pre-professional training\, and community-based classes. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to SOUND OF LIGHT\, a talk and performance introducing NIYANTRI – a singular artistic voice as music & dance. Founded by Indian Classical Musician & Dancer duo Ranjani Ramakrishnan and Divya Devaguptapu\, Niyantri is a non-profit organization with a mission to enable an inner awakening and inspire a collective shift in human consciousness through the transformative power of art. \nIndian classical music and dance are powerful gateways to flow within – to enable a resonance with the intangible. An experiential union within\, through the medium of sound and light\, music and dance. Experience this journey of oneness through a talk and performance introducing Niyantri and its vision. This event will also feature a  special screening of an award winning dance film and a documentary  film on anunāda – resonance\, a unique one of a kind retreat bringing together the essence of Nada (sound) – Natya (Dance) – Yoga (Asana)\, conducted in November 2025 at Flores del Mar\, San Felipe\, Mexico\, in collaboration with Carolyn Belko and Iyengar Yoga Source\, Sorrento Valley.

Her process emphasizes collaboration and exploration\, asking how we relate to one another through movement. \nThis event offers a unique window into that process—inviting audiences to engage not just with the final product\, but with the making of the work itself. \nABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHER\nKeerati Jinakunwiphat is a New York City–based choreographer and dance artist\, originally from Chicago. A recipient of the Princess Grace Award in Choreography\, Jinakunwiphat was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” and is a current Artist in Residence at the 92NY Harkness Dance Center. \nShe has collaborated with leading contemporary artists including Kyle Abraham\, Trisha Brown\, and Doug Varone\, and has created works for companies and institutions across the U.S. \nIn 2023\, she became the first Asian American woman commissioned by New York City Ballet\, creating Fortuitous Ash with music by Du Yun. Her choreography has been presented at venues including Lincoln Center\, The Joyce Theater\, and MASS MoCA. \nKeerati’s work has caught the attention of the dance world and her unique perspective offers a truly extraordinary opportunity for dance to become something beyond movement\, but translate as a message to audiences. DESCRIPTION:Join Arts District Liberty Station in celebrating the fantastic work of Emerging Artists in Residence Giovanna Francisco\, Miguel Galvan\, Lilian Ibarra Pantoja\, and Rachel Torres as they come to the end of their Emerging Artist Residency in Dance Arts. \nFrom works inspired by big and small things to new dance partnerships\, the artists in residence will be sharing a mosaic of the impressive work they’ve explored and created throughout their 11-month residency at Arts District Liberty Station. Come dance and learn what they are up to! \nTo prepare for the event\, we suggest you bring a snack and water\, wear comfy and breathable clothing\, and come with an open mind! \nThis event is ADA accessible. In alignment with the values of DISCO RIOT\, this class centers access\, bodily autonomy\, consent\, and the cultivation of safe(r) community space.
