DESCRIPTION:We will once again close out the festival with our Mainstage Showcase. Last year\, audiences walked away with so many wonderful things to say. Sharing our stories of the AAPI experience proved moving and important work. AAPI audiences felt seen\, while others discovered how different and nuanced our experiences are. \nA curated evening of live dance\, invited dance makers will share personal works that touch on their experience of living multi-culturally. These AAPI choreographers represent different cultural backgrounds and create work in various dance disciplines. Each are inspirational and accomplished artists in their own right. Together they will present an evening of profound sharing and deep questioning. We hope audiences will come away with a richer understanding and appreciation of our AAPI communities and identities.

DESCRIPTION:This captivating dance performance celebrates the richness of Brazilian culture through timeless feminine stories and symbols. Inspired by Brazil’s many dance traditions\, it explores themes of strength\, transformation and the wisdom carried within the body. Drawing from world mythology\, Yoruba beliefs\, Jungian psychology\, Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ “Wild Woman” archetype and the vibrant rhythms of Brazil\, the performance uses movement as a way to honor the past\, express the present and connect with something deeper. More than a celebration of culture\, this work is a personal journey. It explores how dance can help us navigate life’s biggest challenges and reconnect with our inner strength. Through themes of femininity\, grief\, motherhood\, empowerment and healing\, it invites audiences to reflect on the resilience of the human spirit and our ability to grow\, heal and begin again. Directed by Vika S. Hernandez. Featuring guest choreographers Roxanne Rojas de Blanco\, Tania Araoz and Katrina Kelly\, with Live Music by Rafael Hernandez and Aki Drums and original music by Alabe Bira Santos from Bahia\, Brazil.

DESCRIPTION:This year\, we’re excited to announce that AADF2026 Community Day is collaborating with the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival (presented by Little Saigon SD) for a full day of festivities. \n\n\nAADF performers will begin at 11am\, with Mid-Autumn Moon performers starting around 3:30pm. Performances with include Taichi\, martial arts\, Lion Dance\, Classical Chinese dance\, Odissi\, Contemporary dance\, Ballet\, Hip Hop\, Breaking\, and more! There will also be opportunities to learn and join in the dancing\, as well as participate in a variety of family friendly activities – mooncake making\, lantern making\, arts & crafts\, environmental activities\, and a family Fun Zone with bounce houses and games. At 7pm\, Lion Dancers will lead a lantern parade for all to join in! \n\n\nBring a blanket\, beach chairs\, a picnic\, and come enjoy the day with us!
