Malashock Dance provides dance classes for youth and adults, a professional dance company and performances, professional development opportunities for artists, and community programs throughout San Diego.
Founded in 1988, Malashock Dance has been a cornerstone of San Diego’s cultural landscape for over 35 years. Under the Artistic Direction of Christopher K. Morgan, we continue to advance dance as an essential part of life—through performance, education, and professional development.
Our Mission
The mission of Malashock Dance is to illuminate the power of dance as an invaluable part of the human experience. It is a gathering place for artists to create new work, connect with audiences, and offer unique educational opportunities.
We believe dance belongs to everyone.
The Company
Our professional Company has created and performed over 100 original works, and commissioned works from top choreographers in San Diego and beyond. Each season offers audiences an opportunity to experience dance that is emotionally honest, artistically daring, and deeply human.
Education
Our school welcomes dancers of every age and ability to explore movement year-round. Our teaching artists inspire confidence, curiosity, and self-expression while delivering technique-based training.
Through community programs and partnerships with schools and organizations, we make dance accessible to people across San Diego, bringing dance outside the studio and into diverse community spaces. We believe everyone deserves to experience the joy of dancing.
Professional Development
When artists thrive, the entire community thrives. Our professional development programs offer mentorship, shared resources, and creative space that support dancers and choreographers at every stage of their career.
