Seaside Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides students with a world-class education in the performing and visual arts. We cultivate artistry and creativity while developing social and emotional skills, building confidence, and expanding empathy. Seaside Arts Center is an accessible and equitable community that cultivates life-long artistic appreciation, expression, and participation, for students in San Diego County.
Established in 2021, Seaside Arts Center was founded by Elyssa Dru Rosenberg, a dance educator who previously ran isadoraNOW, a nonprofit in preserving modern dance history. After moving to San Diego, Elyssa adapted her work to meet local needs, focusing on accessible, child-centered arts education. In 2019, she relaunched her nonprofit to serve children from all backgrounds, including those unhoused or impacted by the justice system. A 2020 joint performance united kids from vastly different communities, reinforcing her mission of equity through the arts. Inspired by collaborators during the pandemic, Elyssa rebranded as Seaside Arts Center, offering programs in dance, theater, sewing, visual arts, and more. By 2021, over 1,500 students had participated, with nearly 40% on full scholarships. Seaside is continuing to grow its space, ensuring all children can access transformative, creativity-driven education.
